Today, IÕd like to share with you a secret that I have kept for 18 years now....

Most of you think IÕm from Japan. BUT,, IÕm actually an alien from outer space!

I came to Earth from a planet called ÒDizzÓ. ThatÕs why my name is ÒYukiÓ. According to Scott Pollock, the name ÒYukiÓ and the name ÒDizzOGGÓ somehow have a connection :)

I donÕt know what to say to my parents about this secret... Please donÕt worry: they are not from the planet Dizz, but I still love them as my parents.

The fact that I came from outer space should explain why IÕm always looking at stars and thinking about space!! You can probably guess why IÕm kind of strange, too :-)

I came to Earth Òjust-for-a-changeÓ -- definitely not to steal the valedictorianship from Midland High!! :]

Actually, I also came as a representative of the planet Dizz to teach everyone on Earth some lessons that are common sense to all people on my planet Dizz. I needed a good chance to talk to all of you, so I had to work hard to get this opportunity. That was a really tough job because youÕre all super talented! :)

The lesson is about something called ÒYukismÓ that every living thing on the planet Dizz bases its life on.

Just like Mr. VanCamp carries around his copy of the U.S. Constitution, people on planet Dizz carry copies of a similar thing called *********** the ÒYukism ConstitutionÓ. This is for remembering the lessons of Yukism. The most important thing thatÕs in here is the purpose, or goal, of life. We want to know WHY we live, so we can live efficiently:) I think most of us want to have lives that are not boring. Can you imagine what the most boring situation would be? Please try imagining..., and please donÕt say this speech is.... =| Do you see anything missing?...... YouÕll probably see NO CHANGE. We want lots of changes! This constitution says:

ÒWe, the people of Dizz, do believe that the goal of life is

To lead a maximally dynamic existence by experiencing many creative life changes,

and also To help others live similarly ÔchangefulÕ lives.Ó

This means we should always look for changes and try to help others do the same. By the way, the word ÒchangefulÓ IS in the dictionary even though our great English teacher, Mrs. Redman, says itÕs not a real word.... :) She should learn more English.

I will share with you some of the most important lessons thatÕre in the CONSTITUTION: ¥¥¥¥¥¥

1. Helping others is about as good as having a valuable life yourself.

We should really care that every living thing has a valuable life!

I feel really sorry when even the tiniest and ugliest bug gets squashed, ending its entire life as if it were just a chunk of dirt. If you donÕt feel this way, I might have to ask some of my big alien friends from planet Dizz to step on you :)

2. Everything is relative. It means that NOTHING is absolutely bad so we can be positive about ANYTHING. This is something I realized as I was studying physics with Mr. Trzcinski! Even happiness is relative; so we feel happy some time, if we feel unhappy some other times. This leads to the 3rd lesson:

¥ All lives are equal in the amount of happiness and unhappiness because these balance, so we should be satisfied with ourselves. When something bad happens, like having to write a speech in the very last minute, we can just look forward to the bright future. When something good happens, like getting that speech over with, we can enjoy our happy times at graduation parties.

The next lesson is the most important of all:

A fulfilling life is full of changes, NEWness, and variety!

We should try new and different things and be UNIQUE!

Some of our teachers like Mr. Marquis and Mr. Greer are excellent role-models for that.

We can do ANYTHING, as long as we donÕt restrict others from having ÒchangefulÓ lives.

When Dr. Frazee tells us: ÒItÕs okay to be a little bit crazy, just donÕt do anything stupidÓ, I take it to mean that we SHOULD be crazy and abnormal, but donÕt do anything that will hurt, or limit the freedom of others or ourselves.

One good way to have a maximum changes in our lives is by having very challenging goals.

I chose to come to America in 1994 and do the other things, ... not because the school here was easy but because it was a step toward my goal of becoming an astronaut....

Even though itÕs normal for a 14-year-old to separate from his parents back at my planet Dizz, I was kind of worried.

My grandmother in Japan kept warning me: ÒYou will be killed! if you live in America!Ó

I realized: "I would never again live with my family if I leave them now."

I wondered, "Would I be able to live in this country even if English still sounds, looks, and feels weird?"

I didnÕt use the cool 5-step decision-making process, but I finally decided to come to the United States when I thought about my goal. I was pretty sure that the American high school and colleges would prepare me more efficiently toward becoming an astronaut.

ÒThat was one small but challenging step for me . . . one giant leap for my goals

Because of all this, IÕve lived in Japan half of my life and in the United States the other half, IÕve gone to all elementary, intermediate, and high schools in both the countries, IÕve enjoyed living with 4 different families, and I think this is pretty exciting life with a lot of changes!

So we all want to have huge goals because NOTHING is 100% impossible. The bigger our goals, the more we will do and more changes weÕll have in our lives.

I now have pretty big and tough goals, as many of you know already.

IÕm going to do whatever to be a unique astrophysicist and an astronaut so I can live on the Moon to do experiments and observations there. This is pretty tough so IÕm expecting many great engineers like Nate, Toru, Sara, Eric .. to help me. Please tell me if I forgot anyone else willing to help me. IÕm completely sure every single one of us has something to conTRIbute. IÕll say thank you to all of you for your help in advance :)

In return, I would like to devote myself to a Òone - wayÓ scientific mission into a black hole and ÒhopefullyÓ share the excitement with all of you on Earth and on the planet Dizz. My life ÒcouldÓ be too short to accomplish all this, but thatÕs okay. This is ÒalmostÓ impossible but NOT QUITE, so please wait and see. Nothing is impossible.

I hope all of you will try to find and keep even bigger goals than mine, because that means you will accomplish more even if you donÕt accomplish all your goals.

Remember,, DonÕt be normal and typical.-- DonÕt be normal. WeÕll each be unique Òjust the way we areÓ. The end of school is here :-] ItÕs okay to be QUITE a bit crazy, just donÕt do anything dumb. Keep 20 big goals in your planners. We wanna talk WITH each other at the reunion, not about each other. See the STARS!! :) :-] :] :-)
